What are they?

Condoms are a barrier method of contraception. There are male and female condoms. The male condom is a thin sheath (usually made of latex, a type of rubber) that covers the penis. The female condom is a polyurethane sheath with a flexible ring at each end.One end is closed and placed inside the vagina, the other end isopen and the ring stays outside the vaginal cavity. The male condom, also called "condom" or "prophylactic" is used much more frequently.
